The Fender Custom Shop B6 1956 Heavy Relic Precision Bass from the 2026 NAMM show, a Time Machine Limited Edition, captures the raw spirit of one of the most influential bass designs ever created. Built by the Fender Custom Shop to celebrate the earliest years of the Precision Bass, this instrument channels the look, feel, and sound of a well-loved mid-’50s original. Finished in Sonic Blue with an authentically worn Heavy Relic lacquer treatment, it looks and feels like a bass that has spent decades on stages and in studios.

Its two-piece ash body delivers the punchy, focused tone that helped define the Precision Bass sound, while the quarter-sawn maple neck provides exceptional stability and classic vintage feel. The comfortable 1955 Soft “V” neck profile and traditional 7.25” radius maple fingerboard recreate the playing experience of early Fender basses, giving the instrument a distinctly old-school character that feels instantly familiar to vintage enthusiasts.

At the heart of the sound is a Custom Shop hand-wound 1955 Precision Bass pickup that delivers the warm, woody low end and articulate midrange that made the P-Bass a cornerstone of modern music. The simple volume and tone control layout keeps things pure and direct, allowing the natural character of the instrument to shine through whether you’re laying down classic grooves or digging into more aggressive lines.

Vintage-style hardware completes the look, including a relic’d 1955 Precision Bass bridge, nickel hardware, and the distinctive pickup and bridge covers that give the bass its unmistakable early-Fender aesthetic.
