Up for sale is a beautiful 1976 Gibson L-5, one of Gibson’s most iconic and prestigious archtop guitars. Built during an era when Gibson was still producing exceptional handcrafted jazz instruments in Kalamazoo, this L-5 delivers the timeless tone, elegance, and craftsmanship that has made the model a favorite among professional players for decades.

This example is in very good condition for its age, showing normal cosmetic wear consistent with a well-cared-for vintage instrument. The guitar has been maintained properly and plays wonderfully, with a smooth neck and excellent acoustic resonance.

Features:

  • Solid carved spruce top

  • Figured maple back and sides

  • 17" archtop body

  • Multi-ply binding and classic L-5 appointments

  • Bound ebony fingerboard with block inlays

  • Gold hardware

  • Original pickups and electronics (if applicable)

  • Original tailpiece and tuners

Condition:
The guitar shows typical vintage wear including light finish checking, minor surface scratches, and small signs of use. No major structural issues. The neck is straight, the truss rod functions properly, and the frets still have plenty of life. All electronics operate as they should.

Sound & Playability:
This L-5 delivers the warm, articulate tone that made the model legendary in jazz circles—rich lows, clear mids, and sparkling highs. It works equally well unplugged or through an amp, making it perfect for traditional jazz, swing, blues, and beyond. The L-5 has been played by legends and remains one of the most respected archtops ever made. A mid-1970s example like this offers vintage Gibson character at a much more accessible price than earlier pre-war models.

Includes:
-Vintage Historic Gibson hard shell case
