This New Zealand-made pedal produces tube-like overdrive without spoiling the pickup sound! It's an old-circuit model.

Turn down the DRIVE and raise the LEVEL to use it as a booster. As you increase the DRIVE, the low-mids become more pronounced. Raising it too much can result in a boomy sound, so a moderate setting is recommended. Turning up the PRESENCE boosts the high-mids for better clarity. While it's often compared to the RAT, the HOT CAKE has a more overdriven, fat sound. While it can sound a bit muffled depending on the guitar and amp, it's recommended for adding thickness to a single-pickup guitar. This is a 2-knob unit from around 2002.
