This very early 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior is a superb example of one of Gibson’s iconic, classic designs. Featuring the earlier 1958-style neck profile and body construction, this guitar captures the transitional feel and tone that many players consider the sweet spot of the Junior lineage. Built with a solid mahogany body, wraparound bridge, and a single P-90 pickup, the Les Paul Junior remains one of the purest expressions of vintage electric guitar tone ever produced.
This 7 pound, 6 ounce beast embodies everything players and collectors love about late-1950s Gibson Juniors—simplicity, incredible resonance, and raw musical power. The guitar is in excellent condition - cleaner than most and one of just a few with this early, square-edged body style and fat '58 neck that are currently available on the market.
The only change on the guitar is one you can't see: the tuners were once changed to individual, vintage Kluson tuners. The post holes through the headstock were not altered, just a few small screw holes were added behind the profile of the original Kluson plates, which we put back on the guitar. There are new plastic buttons on these machines.
Well, there is one other change, but it didn't require alteration, and the original part is in the case. The bridge currently on the guitar is a Mojo, compensated unit that gives better tone and intonation.
The solder joints are untouched, with the original 1958 pots and pickup in place. The original frets are in excellent shape. The neck is straight and there is room in the truss rod for future neck relief adjustments. The guitar set up perfectly with little effort and it plays perfectly - pick your superlative, it applies here.
The case is a recent Gator hardshell.
As with all instruments at Mahar’s Vintage Guitars, it has been fully inspected, photographed accurately, and professionally set up to play its absolute best.

Notable Players / History
The Gibson Les Paul Junior was introduced in 1954 as a stripped-down student model, but it quickly became a favorite among professional musicians for its raw tone and simplicity. Artists such as Leslie West, Johnny Thunders, Billie Joe Armstrong, and many others have relied on Juniors for their aggressive midrange voice and explosive P-90-driven sound.
