ntroduced in 1951, the Fender Precision Bass set the standard for solid body electric basses and remains one of the most influential designs in music history. Its straightforward layout, split coil pickup, and minimal controls give it remarkable versatility, making it a go to instrument for studio and stage across decades.
This all original 1961 example features a Maple neck with a slab Rosewood fingerboard, clay dot inlays, and a pencil date of 8/61 on the neck heel. The body features the original sunburst finish, which shows significant play wear and natural ageing, including areas worn through to the wood, reflecting a well played instrument. The black bobbin split coil pickup is untouched, along with the original wiring loom, with both pots dated to the 7th week of 1961 (304 6107).
All hardware is original and fully functional, including open gear oval button tuners, bridge and pickup covers, and the celluloid three layer tortoiseshell pickguard, which shows only very minor signs of warping. The original brown tolex case accompanies the bass, completing a superb example of a classic vintage Precision Bass.
This guitar has been given a full service and appraisal by our luthiers at the Vintage Instrument Workshop, and includes a 2 year warranty.
