Cort Billy Cox Signature Model "Freedom Bass" manufactured by Cor-Tek in Korea in 2000 There are no available production records. A thread on TalkBass said as few as 150 units of this model were produced. This is a solid, awesome playing bass.

Billy Cox met Jimi Hendrix in the service and became a long-time friend, recorded and performed with Jimi at Woodstock and other venues, and later as a member of the Band of Gypsies.  You can find a lot of his performances on YouTube.

This bass is in excellent condition, has minor buckle rash, small scratches or blemishes and a small dent on the back of the neck that does not affect play. Have tried to show everything in photos. Build quality and materials are very good.

Billy Cox used both Fender Jazz Bass and Precision Bass strengths as the base design of his model. Uses three pickups: a split P-Bass mounted in "reversed" position, and two single coil Jazz Bass style pickups. Pickups were custom made by Mightymite. Each pickup has a stacked Volume/Tone pot- '62 Fender type, and toggle switch for preamp, 9v, click spring washers on the tone knobs. Almost unlimited possibilities to dial in tone playing 1 to 3 pickups at desired settings. Fender EB74 style bridge, tuners, string trees, and the brass nut are chrome finished.

Neck is straight, hard maple, fretboard and frets are good. Setup and intonation are good. Strings show wear on chrome, but hold tune well and sound good.

Everything works as it should, super quiet and clean. Includes new Gator case.
