The Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird V captures the unmistakable design and sound of one of Gibson’s most radical vintage-era instruments. Originally created by automotive designer Ray Dietrich, the Firebird introduced Gibson’s distinctive reverse body shape and neck-through construction, delivering striking visual identity alongside powerful, articulate tone.
This example features Gibson Custom’s Light Aging treatment in Cardinal Red, giving the guitar the look and feel of a well-preserved vintage instrument with subtle play wear and lightly aged hardware. The 9-ply mahogany and walnut neck-through construction provides exceptional sustain and structural stability while contributing to the Firebird’s distinctive tonal character.
The authentic ’63 Medium C neck profile paired with a rosewood fingerboard offers a comfortable vintage feel with excellent control for chords, bends, and lead playing. Two Firebird Alnico V pickups deliver the clear, focused voice that has defined Firebird tones for decades, with tight low end, articulate mids, and cutting highs that sit perfectly in a mix.
