I am selling my 2018 Alvarez Yairi DY1TS acoustic-electric dreadnought w/cutaway in very good condition. It comes in the original Alvarez Hardshell Case in excellent condition. This Yairi has a great sound, and sounds great acoustic, or amplified. The only things of note on this Yairi is some glue residue near the nut on the headstock, and also a place on the back where a crack repair was done. My luthier has leveled and removed some glue residue on the back crack, and it's virtually invisible now unless held in a certain light at an angle( Please see closeup of the back, just to the right of the center strip). He also has said the repair is solid, and should not be a problem in the future. There are some scratches on the lower part of the top which I have tried to photograph(please see last 4 photos for the scratches, and the back where the glue residue was removed). I have cleaned, polished, oiled the fretboard, and restrung with D’Addario XT light gauge strings. Buy with confidence from Southern Cross Guitars as we have 389 5* reviews here on Reverb, and many more in my local markets in Virginia and South Carolina!! Buy this great Alvarez Yairi today, and ut will ship immediately.
Stage-ready Artisan Tone
The Yairi team of master builders is creating some of the finest acoustic instruments that Alvarez offers. This DY1TS dreadnought guitar is a stage-optimized dreadnought built for rigorous performance and seamless playability. Aged tonewoods like East Indian rosewood, Western Red cedar, and mahogany combine with premium bracing, advanced hardware, an upper cutaway, unique bridge, and LR Baggs electronics. This marriage of components equates to a guitar that’s as reliable as it is beautiful. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or an intermediate player shopping for a stage-ready instrument, the DY1TS’ handbuilt features are ready to amplify your creativity onstage or off.
Seasoned tonewoods carved by hand
Each tonewood aboard the DY1TS is a Yairi selection that complements the dreadnought shape. Rosewood back and sides give balanced midrange with focused low end and smooth highs, while a Western Red cedar top adds clarity, focus, and plenty of sweet harmonic overtones. These curated selections are aged and seasoned from five to 15 years to ensure a lightweight instrument that looks and sounds divine. A smooth mahogany neck and a rosewood fingerboard keep your hands at ease, even during long sessions, and there's a smooth body cutaway for enhanced access to the upper frets. The neck also features an extended dovetail neck joint for wider truss rod adjustment range and better energy transfer from neck to body.
Asymmetric bracing and a Direct Coupled bridge
Yairi-Alvarez blends advanced engineering with traditional luthier skills, and as such, some of the DY1TS’s exciting features are invisible to the naked eye. Inside, the DY1TS’s custom asymmetric bracing helps tease even levels and balanced tone across lows, mids, and highs for the range and versatility dreadnought players crave. A proprietary Direct Coupled rosewood bridge puts your strings in pure communication with the spruce top, representing a huge leap from bridges past. Direct Coupling gives more contact between strings and your guitar top; this not only boosts everything from volume to sustain and response, but it also reduces long-term wear and tear on the bridge for a more durable instrument. Sweetwater acoustic players love the detail-oriented design that takes the DY1TS from pretty rad to a must-have instrument.
LR Baggs electronics
Onboard LR Baggs StagePro Element electronics ensure rich acoustic tone even when amplified. Alvarez has an excellent relationship with the LR Baggs team and chose Element electronics based on their reliability, ease of use, and, of course, tone. Unlike traditional acoustic pickups, the Element preamp delivers a more authentic acoustic tone by mirroring the soundboard’s actual movements and vibrations. Plus, it includes an onboard tuner and a 3-band EQ for endless tone-sculpting potential.
From Yairi with love
Alvarez-Yairi represents the driving force of Alvarez culture: obsessive attention to detail and traditional quality. The result is guitars that nourish creativity for a lifetime. However, these guitars aren’t just instruments, they’re souvenirs of music history and the emotions that shape it. Yairi's formidable team of 24 luthiers still builds instruments the traditional way — sculpting guitars humbly by hand using only the finest materials with a nearly 60-year reputation of building players exceptional instruments at a fair price.
