Up for sale is this vintage 1966 Gibson FJN Folk acoustic guitar. This is a very cool example of a very uncommon and very interesting Gibson model. Featuring a Country Western-sized square shoulder body, a 2" nut width, and a flat fretboard radius, these were designed with classical players in mind but were built for either ball-end nylon strings or light gauge steel strings. Not many were built and you don't see many of them pop up these days, which is why we are incredibly excited to be able to offer this one up...

This instrument is all original and in nice condition for its age. It's very obvious that this was someones main guitar for many years and it shows it in the finish wear (numerous dings, scuffs, and scratches, please see the photos), fret and fretboard wear (the frets show heavy wear but will retain plenty of life, tbe fretboard shows divoting in the first few positions), and tone (it's one of the better sounding Gibson acoustics that we have heard from this era, no doubt because it was played so heavily). The original pickguards show wear, including heavy wear on the treble side. There are a few repaired top cracks below the bridge (pictured) and we believe that the guitar has had a fairly recent neck set as evidenced by finish chipping on the sides of the heel. The set is spot on and there is plenty of saddle height to ensure great playability and sound.

Our tech has just gone over this one by cleaning it up, polishing the frets, oiling the fretboard, installing a fresh set of strings, and slightly adjusting the truss rod. The neck is straight and the instrument plays great all the way up the neck with comfortable, low action. The frets are certainly starting to show their age, but still retain plenty of life and shouldn't be an issue for a long while.

A used TKL hardshell case is included and is in good condition although it does show wear. The instrument will be well-packed inside and out to ensure safe shipping.

If you've been in the market for one of these oddball Gibson's, this is a great example: well-loved and ready to find its next home so that it can continue making music.
