The 2017 Fender Custom Shop 1956 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic – Roasted Canadian Black Ash was commissioned to commemorate Canada’s 150th Anniversary and the 30th Anniversary of the Fender Custom Shop.
Crafted from Canadian-sourced roasted black ash and paired with a rift-sawn maple neck, this guitar delivers exceptional resonance, clarity, and sustain. The thin Two-Tone Sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish highlights the natural grain beautifully, allowing the wood to breathe and resonate like a true vintage Strat.
Equipped with Custom Shop Hand-Wound ’56 Strat pickups, this instrument captures the chime, sparkle, and dynamic warmth of the golden-era Stratocaster tone. The Journeyman Relic treatment adds tasteful aging — the look of a well-preserved classic that’s been gently played for decades.
This guitar is completely mint and all original, and includes its Certificate of Authenticity, original hardshell case, and all case candy.
