All New Rack Ears!!

These rack ears fit the Mackie DL32S mixer. Now you can mount the mixer either flush, or with a 3"+ recess! The recess mount option allows your internal audio cables to remain connected, even when you close the cover. This allows cables to remain plugged in with minimal interference from the rack cover when closed.

In either mounting situation, all the ventilation holes are still fully open - none are blocked.

Pass through hole allow cables to easily pass from the rear of the rack to the front of the mixer. The price is for a pair of rack ears, so you can mount one (1) mixer into a road case or rack.

The brackets are strong! 3D printed, and made from either PLA Plus or PETG material, both of which are equivalent in strength to ABS material. It is made with a 100% infill - making these parts solid plastic. Extra thick, with right angle interior corners reinforced by design. The micrometer shown measure the thickness at more than 6mm.

I also learned there are rack cases out there that are a bit narrower than the standard opening. This issue has been completely solved. These ears mounted on the mixer yield an overall width of the mixer at 18-7/8", which is well within the 19" "standard" rack opening. And, the mounting holes remain at 18-5/16" per the standard.

Finally, a word about "droop": As you know, these parts are made out of plastic, whereas the OEM parts are made from steel. In addition, this mixer is relatively heavy. Because of this, we highly recommend mounting the mixer so that there is something supporting it from underneath, whether it’s the bottom of your rack, or simply another piece of equipment that provides support to the underside of the mixer, such as a power conditioner or a splitter. The more the mixer is supported, the less likelihood you’ll encounter any issues.

The reason is because if the mixer is NOT supported from underneath AND the equipment rack is exposed to temperatures greater than about 120 Degree F for a prolonged period of time, for example in a cargo trailer exposed to the sun all day, it is possible that the plastic in the ears will soften slightly and mixer will droop down toward the rear, and this will deform the rack ears.

Should your rack ears ever droop, the good news is there's a simple fix:

1) Remove the rack ears and place them in a warm (100 Degrees F) oven for about 10 minutes but, watch them carefully. They will return to their normal shape. Remove them and let them cool, then

2) Re-mount the mixer either at the bottom of the rack, or mount another piece of equipment directly underneath the mixer, so that the weight of the mixer is supported by something in addition to the rack ears.

These two steps should solve the droop issue.
