For your consideration, a classic and highly sought-after vintage piece—the original Lifton-made hardshell case for Gibson Les Paul Standards from the late 1950s, specifically the 1958–1960 “Sunburst” era (often called “Bursts”). These are famously nicknamed “Cali girl” cases due to their mottled brown Tolex exterior and distinctive pink plush/silk lining.
These cases were the period-correct OEM (original equipment manufacturer) protection for those iconic guitars, featuring 5 latches (including one locking) and C-shaped handle. The brown/pink combo is iconic for Les Paul Standards of the late ’50s.
As you can tell this one is in great shape with no funky smells (a common issue with old cases from moisture/mold). That alone makes it stand out, as many surviving examples show heavy wear, tape repairs, or odors. They’re relatively rare in clean condition because they were workhorse cases for gigging musicians back in the day. The guitar pictured is not included.
