The J-45 is Gibson's flagship workhorse, praised by countless guitarists for its versatility on stage and in-studio. This acoustic guitar, having mostly been kept in storage/on display by its previous owner, came to us in beautiful condition - to our eyes, there's minimal to no visible playwear on the satin finish, meaning this Gibson is as spectacular as the day it was taken out of the box. This superlative six-string begins with the same tonewood foundation as the original J-45, pairing a solid Sitka spruce top with scalloped X-bracing and mahogany back and sides. The body depth on this J-45 Special has been slightly reduced, lending a more balanced and mix-friendly spin on the J-45’s legendary warm, dry, and genre-defying thump. Pickers of all backgrounds will speed along this guitar’s fast-playing SlimTaper utile neck topped with a Gibson-standard 12-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard and finished with mother-of-pearl dot inlays. What’s more, the J-45 Special matches the stage-proven performance of its standard-series sibling with LR Baggs electronics and Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. High-end specs further bolster this guitar’s feel and function, including a rosewood belly bridge and a nut and saddle crafted from self-lubricating TUSQ.
