Signed by Flatiron supervisor Dennis Balian in 1988 during Flatiron’s transition to Gibson-hood, this extra fancy “Master” F5 is an extra rare sight out of the Bozeman based manufacturer, with its 70’s style fingerboard inlays, Fern peghead inlay, Gibson era-specific finish (nearly exactly the same as an ‘89 F5L we’ve had before), and overall jump in specificity over the average Flatiron.
This one features a 1 1/16 nut, more Loar spec, as well as a very nicely flamed back and sides, a wooden pickguard, and overall excellent fit and finish. There has been a repaired headstock scroll break, which is about the only foible on this great instrument.
Very clean finish, just some little round marks on the finish that seem to be some sort of cleaner residue.
Comes with a non-original padded case.
