Experience a rare piece of boutique audio history — an MXL 2001 rebuilt by legendary microphone designer David Royer with his custom vacuum tube circuit. Royer — the designer behind Royer Labs and Mojave Audio — replaced the stock electronics with his U47-inspired tube amplifier design, the same circuit concept that later evolved into the acclaimed Mojave Audio MA-200. The result is a large-diaphragm tube condenser with lush, musical warmth and three-dimensional depth far beyond its origins. This mic comes directly from The OC Recording Company, where it has served as a prized vocal microphone.
PROVENANCE NOTE: This modification was performed by David Royer himself. As the owner, I can attest to this firsthand; no written documentation accompanies the microphone, so it is priced and sold on that basis. Happy to discuss the mic's history with serious buyers.
