GRECO EB-135 VINTAGE MIJ SEMI-ACOUSTIC BASS c.1968

This is a vintage Golden-Era Japanese semi-hollow body short-scale bass in gorgeous original dark olive finish.

An early Greco (from their pre-copy days), the EB-135 was introduced around 1967 and produced for no more than three years.

Condition-wise...

Very good overall.

Body and neck are in good shape. The original dark olive green finish is exceptionally good for its age. (And delightful under the lights).

The frets are good. The bindings to both neck and body are very clean.

The knobs and tuners are not original. There are hole fills around the replacement G tuner. However, everything is structurally solid and it does not affect function or playability. (See photos)

The original hinged chrome tailpiece, the electrics and the vintage Greco single coil pickup all work exactly as they should.

In Action...

This bass plays well and sounds great. These necks are slim and extremely comfortable and the bass itself is refreshingly light.

Tone-wise, it has a distinctive warmth with almost acoustic-like clarity. Surprisingly good sustain for a semi-acoustic.

With these nice old flat wounds on this lad pumps out some of the most thumpily authentic 60s semi-acoustic bass vibes you could wish for.

In summary...

These early short-scale Greco basses epitomise what has become known as the golden age of Japanese craftsmanship. Beautifully constructed.

They also have a seriously cool 60's vintage charm - not to mention a truly distinctive electric-meets-acoustic bass tone. A joy to play.

Or simply gaze at. A genuinely rare find.

A Note On Shipping:

We want you to be fully satisfied with everything - from the item itself (naturally!) through the shipping, packaging, communication etc.

Of course there is nothing we can do about customs duty, local taxes etc at your end. But we can keep the overall price as competitive as is decently possible.

The Japan post office service (EMS) is reliable and efficient but shipping costs from Japan to Europe or the states are unavoidably expensive.

For this reason none of the shipping costs we quote reflect the actual price we have to pay. We are more than willing to take a hit on that to make things as attractive for you as possible.

Vintage Instruments & Equipment

Shipping by air plus climatic changes can affect how a guitar is set up - no matter how well it is packed. Consequently there is no guarantee that an instrument arrives with exactly the same set up as stated. After a period of acclimatisation, you may still need to make any adjustments at your own expense.
