For sale is a 1980 Ibanez Ragtime Special R-400 acoustic guitar from the original owner, with a hardshell case. The Ragtime Special R-400 is part of Ibanez's short-lived Ragtime series (introduced around 1979, produced mainly 1979–1983 or so). This distinctive, collectible acoustic has a unique "ragtime" or archtop-inspired body shape. It is a flattop but it does have an arched back, and other features geared toward fingerstyle or gypsy jazz vibes. The cutaway provides excellent access to the upper frets and is incredibly comfortable to play. These guitars did not come with a case, so the case included is aftermarket but is in "like new" condition and fits the instrument beautifully. There is some checking on the top and a scratch on the top as well, but for a 46 year old guitar it is in great shape and plays beautifully. There are some dings but nothing major. One piece spruce top and rosewood back and sides. The fingerboard and bridge are also rosewood. It does not have a truss rod cover. The machine heads are smooth as they were on day 1 and it has new bridge pins. It really is a unique instrument.
