Very hard to find early 70’s factory cream/white Les Paul Standard pickguard in great shape with no breaks, cracks or repairs. Has what appears to be a couple of small drops of something, probably a super glueish substance. No real attempt was made to remove, scratched at it with my fingernail. Otherwise excellent condition and a rare pre-1974 version when they re-cut Deluxe guards to fit humbuckers. ’74 onward had a distinctly contoured tip and some mold marks on the back, both work with early Standards but this would be correct for the few handfuls of ’71-’73’s they built. This came from a ’73 Deluxe with factory humbuckers, see pics with a comparison to my ’74 Standard. The tip area on this one extends further into the cutaway than most, similar to what’s found on some early Deluxe guards. Screw hole lines up perfectly.
PLEASE CHECK THE PIC!!! Always hard to get a good representation of the creaminess of these old plastics so I've included a pic against a sheet of white printer paper. It's still a shade lighter in the pic, a bit darker and more yellow in person. I can try something in sunlight if you need a more accurate look.
I’ve rebuilt a couple of early Norlin Les Pauls in the past and this is the hardest part to find, that and the small script truss cover. Pickup spacing is slightly different from modern which leaves a gap around the rings and a not so perfect screw hole alignment, if you’ve made it this far you probably know! Perfect if you're building an Ace Frehely tribute from a burst Custom and need a cream guard to fit.
