Danelectro Mod 7 (7-String) in “Aqua Pearl,” semi-hollow electric guitar. Rare find! Not many of these were made in the early 2000s before this model was discontinued. And this one was kept in excellent condition, rarely and minimally played.
This HSS 7-string has a fixed bridge, original Gotoh tuners, and three lipstick pickups (two single coil and bridge humbucker), selectable via a 6-way rotary switch with the following positions: 1) Neck + Bridge, 2) Neck, 3) Neck + Middle, 4) Middle, 5) Middle + Bridge, 6) Bridge.
Additionally, the switch that is about two inches below the bridge pickup is referred to as a “blast” switch that bypasses the rotary in the up position and turns on all three pickups no matter what position the rotary is in. When the blast switch is in down position, the pickups are selected by the rotary position.
Also included is a two-level stacked knob for tone and volume control.
The final controller is a coil tap switch for the bridge humbucker for when a pickup mode is selected that includes the bridge pickup (e.g, rotary positions 1, 5, or 6, or if the “blast” switch is up). In the up position, the bridge pickup inner coil is output when the bridge pickup is selected, and in the down position the bridge pickup is a humbuckers with both coils being output when the bridge pickup is selected.
Semi-hollow construction provides a resonant and unique tone, as well as a relatively light-weight and comfortable fit for a 7-string, weighing in at 7 pounds and 3.8 ounces, with a 25-inch scale length and 21 frets.
Excellent condition for being about 25 years old, with light surface scratches from normal use, minor edge scratches, and exceptions noted as follows (and as shown in pictures):
1) Extra strap knob installed on top bout (for more stable positioning / better weight balance while playing); original strap knobs remain installed and included;
2) Original vinyl edging is slightly lifted from natural aging in spots at upper neck joint and at bottom strap lock as shown in pictures (typical and very common with these models); and
3) Coil tap switch has been upgraded, replacing the original coil tap switch that would not hold position well (note: upgraded switch knob is very similar in look/size as original, but just a stronger and more stable build) - upgraded switch is circled in yellow in the provided picture.
This guitar will be shipped double-boxed, with inner box being the factory-original box with original UPC bar code (shown in pictures). All original parts except for the upgraded coil tap switch noted above, added (third) strap button noted above, and I’m sure the strings have been replaced.
