LIMITED EDITION FENDER MIJ TRADITIONAL ‘70S TELECASTER DELUXE SEA FOAM GREEN

Fender’s MIJ range of guitars has only recently been more readily available in the UK, finally filling a demand which has been there for some time. Though coming in at a significant cost reduction over American-made instruments, these Made In Japan guitars represent the best of Japanese build quality. They are, in other words, world class. Only 125 of these guitars were produced for the EMEA market, and the build quality is stunning

If you’re looking at a Traditional ‘70s model, such as this Deluxe Telecaster, you’re likely to be after a guitar which is highly authentic to the ‘70s period of Tele’s. This Deluxe model is fitted with twin Fender Wide Range Humbucking pickups, controlled via a 3-position blade. An extended 3-ply pearloid pickguard contrasts with black amp-style skirted control knobs, while a 6-saddle bridge keeps the intonation in check.

In terms of feel, the “U”-shaped neck is fatter than your run-of-the-mill “C”-shaped neck, ideal for those with larger hands, or for someone who just likes some chunk to their neck. It’s certainly in-keeping with the workhorse nature of a Tele. The traditional 7.25”-radius fretboard is perfect for raw blues, rock ’n’ roll or country styles.

This Limited Edition Fender MIJ Traditional ‘70s Telecaster Deluxe is a truly delightful homage to this golden age in Fender’s history.

I have owned this from new in 2021 and apart from 5 small dings - only noticeable on close inspection - it is in great condition with little fretwear as the pictures show. I replaced the 9-42 set of strings as supplied to Ernie Ball 9.5-44 as I generally setup my guitar with 10s but liked the slinky feel on the 7.25” radius.
