Mehteran cymbals are handcrafted by Adam Diril in Turkey. The Jazz ride has a very bright lively sound and easy feel. A well made, full sounding cymbal that has a clear projecting bell and slightly dark wash.
Very comparable to a K Custom Dark Ride or an Agop traditional jazz ride, but at a far more tolerable price point.
Made out of B-20 bronze and hand hammered and manufactured in the traditional Turkish style.
This is a do it all cymbal that is responsive and subtle at need, or full and projecting when called for. With a sweet “tah“ that is controlled enough for uptempo phrasing, but remains highly crashable with some fiery dark hints.
I really like this cymbal a lot and the Mehteran work in general is very much deserving of the recognition it’s been getting over the last few years.
