Boss RV-2 Digital Reverb – 1987 Made in Japan

Condition

This effect pedal is in Excellent condition. There are minor scattered scuffs, scratches and signs of age on the exterior. The rear Dark Gray label is missing. This does not impact sound or functionality. It has been thoroughly cleaned and tested with a compatible power supply. We replaced the crumbling original rubber screw gasket. All functions are operational. Build date of December 1987. The original packaging and instructions are not included.

The RV-2 is a classic MIJ Boss pedal that just feels finished — and that’s the real charm of the best MIJ-era Boss: tools that already make sense the moment you step on them. This one isn’t pristine; it’s musical, with a slightly grainy, dimensional tail that sits in a track like it was always meant to be there. If you want reverb that adds space and mood without turning your playing into fog, this is the classic.

Professor’s Tips

• Best starting point (set-and-forget): try Mode 2 or 3, with Reverb around 9–11 o’clock — depth and width without washing out your attack.
• Keep it “record-ready”: run E.Level a touch lower than you think, then add reverb time until the room appears behind you.
• Where it loves to live: after drives, usually near the end of the chain. Put it late for natural space; put it before modulation for tighter definition (after modulation if you want the chorus to swim).
• Nearly-always-right pairing: a mild boost/OD into RV-2 gives that halo around notes without harshness — perfect for indie rhythm layers and melodic leads.
