Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a classic 1970's era AKG model D190E dynamic cardioid microphone made in Austria with outstanding sound characteristics and easily on par with any great dynamic microphone you could possibly think of from that era and still a very sought after mic from musicians today. If you have never heard one of these before...you'll be pleasantly surprised. These D1090E models have a warm, smooth tone that is bright in nature. Excellent for singing and broadcasting. Quite exceptional and the signal is very strong. I should note however that these mics can be very hit and miss. Make sure you buy a D190E that has been thoroughly gone through like this one as they all have issues after 40 + years of use and some do not sound very good or even work at all.
This mic comes with a mic clip shown as well as the original data sheet and case. They just don't come any nicer than this. I'm not sure this mic was used much at all. It's literally like brand new.
The AKG mics were almost always very high quality and known for their durability and superb sound. This mic was manufactured in Austria with excellent quality control.
Pic # 2 is from an old 1980's AKG catalog showing this mics basic specs. If you need a D190E with an on / off switch then the D190ES is the way to go.
Pic # 7 shows the actual data sheet you'll be getting that has a tone of technical info on this mic that will come in handy. It's in excellent shape too. it will be tucked under the foam padding within the mic case.
As you can see there is no wear on the gold / silver finish of this mic. It's free of any dents, deep scratches, corrosion, or fractures or scuff marks. The front screen is metal and has an uber modern / contemporary look. Free of tarnish, dents or odors. I replaced the inner foam pop filter as it was falling apart. The new pop filter greatly improve sound characteristics but if you want ideal sound I would suggest buying a new exterior foam pop filter. Those seem to help a lot more than the inner pop filters.
The mic is uni-directional and is great at cancelling out any background noise. Again...a superb mic for any live performance and worth every penny.
The mic comes with a mic clip that will screw onto any desk or floor stand as well. The mic clip shows no wear and provides the mic with a wide degree of tilt up and down. It grips the mic firmly as well so you can hang the mic upside down if needed.
Mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included.
The original AKG D190E mic case is hard to find and this one is really nice. It's a plastic design with a built in handle / locking mechanism and it has the original foam padded inserts. Case shows just lite scuff makes but nothing more. The label looks great too.
If you need the nicest looking / sounding D190E out there then this is your mic.
MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
Overall I would rate this mic an easy 10 on a scale of 1 - 10. This mic will only go up in value due to the pristine finish and quality build.
