SUZUKI N-40 Violin Bow (Advanced), Japan, 4/4 - Select Pernambuco

Advanced violin bow by Suzuki Violin Co. of Nagoya, handcrafted in Japan. Round stick made from dark reddish-brown select Pernambuco wood. Ebony frog with full nickel mount and Parisian eye.

The N-40 model targets advanced players and has a list price of 110,000 yen (which during recent decades was a rough equivalent of US$1,100).

According to the description by Suzuki:

"This bow offers excellent maneuverability and exceptional flexibility, making it a highly recommended bow for comfortable playing. The "stickiness" you feel the moment you hold the bow and play a note adds to its appeal. It's easy to achieve a smooth bow turn without muddling important phrases, and it's also easy to produce beautiful, consistent chords. It has a soft tone yet a firm stick, making it a bow that combines rigidity and flexibility."

This bow was made in the late 2010s and is in very good, gently used condition.
