Fender Stratocaster ST-68R Jimi Hendrix ’68 Model – Made in Japan (1993–1994) – Olympic White
This is a beautiful early–mid ’90s Fender Japan ST-68R, the Jimi Hendrix ’68 model in classic Olympic White. Built in 1993–1994, this model pays tribute to the late-’60s Stratocaster style associated with Hendrix during the Woodstock era, featuring the iconic large headstock and CBS-era aesthetic that defined that period.
The guitar is in excellent technical and cosmetic condition. The neck is straight, the truss rod functions properly, and the frets are clean with plenty of life left. It plays comfortably with smooth action and great resonance. Electronics work perfectly.
Cosmetically, it presents very well overall. There is a light area on the back of the body from a previously placed sticker, very subtle and barely noticeable in natural daylight, as well as a scratch on the back (see photos). Both are purely cosmetic and do not affect playability.
An important and very cool detail about this model: it is essentially a right-handed guitar built in the style of a flipped left-handed Strat - just like Hendrix played. The body shape follows the left-handed orientation (reverse body and pickup angle), but the strap buttons are positioned for right-handed use, and the headstock logo is applied in the standard right-handed orientation. This gives it the unmistakable “reverse Hendrix” visual vibe while remaining fully practical for right-handed players.
It is a serial Japanese production model, a very unique and distinctive look that immediately stands out.
This model captures the spirit of the late-’60s Stratocaster era. The oversized headstock and bold logo reflect Fender’s CBS-era design, and Olympic White was one of the classic finishes of that time, often aging beautifully over the decades. Hendrix famously flipped right-handed Strats upside down, and that late-’68 aesthetic became forever linked with his Woodstock performance and that historic moment in music culture.
This particular guitar is equipped with Texas Special pickups. They deliver a slightly hotter output compared to traditional vintage pickups, with a strong midrange presence, punchy low end, and a bright but slightly aggressive top end. Clean tones are glassy and articulate, with excellent “quack” in positions 2 and 4. With overdrive, they respond dynamically and cut through the mix with clarity and bite. A great balance of vintage character and modern authority.
The tremolo arm is included. No case.
Overall, this is a fantastic example of a 1993–1994 Fender Japan Hendrix ’68 model - clean, stage-ready, visually unique, and increasingly desirable among MIJ collectors and players alike.

The following work has been done: full cleaning, fret polishing and string height setup (2.3 mm at the 12th fret on the low E string), pickup height adjusted for balance and clarity, and a fresh set of D'Addario XL 10/46 strings installed.
