Fully Refurbished Vintage Magnavox Portable Quality All-In-One Record Changer Stereo Turntable from 1970
Magnavox was one of the finest quality manufacturers in it's day and this unit is no exception to be of the finest quality. This unit produces a full quality satisfying tone - the best sounding portable I ever had. It plays all record types: 16 RPM, 12" 33 RPM LPs, 7" 45 RPM Single Records, 10" Shellac Records from the 1930's through '50s in record sizes of 12" 10" and 7" - This changer senses them automatically! This unit was meant to be portable, meaning it is self contained (needs nothing extra, but still requires AC power) - This unit is a "All in one unit": the body / case houses the record changer, the amplifier and one of the built-in speakers - the remaining other speaker is placed in the lid of the unit - and each speaker can be removed and placed at some distance for extended stereo sound. - For the "large hole" 7" singles records there is a stacker adapter provided and the phono cartridge has a "flip-over" stylus that can be selected between "LP" (all vinyl record types) and "78" for 10" 78 RPM shellac records. Records can be stacked for automated play, that can last up to 2 hours. It's vintage with impressive Hi-Fi sound. This Magnavox record changer serves records by "feeling" their size for a truly vintage listening experience - in other words: automatic size selection (!) - No need -or even facility- to set the record size manually.

Physical Condition: This unit is 55 years old and is in good condition but has the typical unavoidable sings of aging and use, such as dirt, scratches, dis-colorations, dings, blemishes
Working Condition: painstakingly fully refurbished and well working condition in every regard - reliably works - great sound - The design of this amplifier is a bit noisy, but I modified the tone control so that noise can be rolled back and it still provides more than enough highs and good strong bass - Please read: purchase agreement below for details.
Work Performed to restore this unit: Repaired and refurbished the Record Changer Chassis: clean, de-grease, un-freeze and re-lubricate mechanical parts, re-worked the drive surfaces, replaced worn cam gear (hard to find), performed adjustments - Amplifier: replaced 90% of the capacitors, re-soldered aged solder points, treated controls and switches with contact cleaner, attempted to address this amplifers noise: replaced transistors and not much improvement: custom modified the tone control so that noise can be reduced by rolling back the highs and there is plenty of high frequency response, Speakers: took apart and tightened the speaker mounting, replaced the speaker plugs and replaced the RCA speaker jack at the unit, repair to casing, physical cleaning and detail work. The work to refurbish this unit took about $900 worth of labor plus parts - My gift to you: you only pay partially what it took to restore this unit plus get the unit itself for free with the purchase price.
Lot: Magnavox record changer with built-in amplifier, stacker adapter for 7" single records, used flip-over stylus for LP+78, Lid that breaks out to removable speakers with cable and RCA jacks, hard wired power cable.

I aim to perform all work that I foresee necessary, to provide equipment in well and reliably working condition - refurbish in as much detail as possible - and test thoroughly, to gain confidence through testing, to predict that it will last, but cannot guarantee that. Once work complete, it is still possible that something be wrong -or can go wrong with it (vintage!) - Prices of items offered here reflect the work that went into a given piece of gear until it is listed, but cannot cover what a given piece may need or may need in the future - that would be at your risk and expense - If there are defects, problems or shortcomings: I will be glad to help and likely I can repair, but it will be at additional cost - I do service what I sell at my regular shop rate.
