Check out this solid set of genuine Fender Japan Telecaster single-coil pickups—pulled straight from a Standard or Traditional Series MIJ Tele (I don't remember). These deliver that classic Tele twang with bright snap, articulate attack, tight lows, and the signature bridge bite—perfect for country, rockabilly, blues, indie, or classic rock tones.

Fender Japan has long been praised for quality vintage-reissue-style guitars that punch above entry-level expectations, often with construction echoing vintage specs but tuned for modern playability:

  • Fiber bobbins – Authentic period-correct vulcanized fiber construction for vintage vibe, durability, and tone.
  • Alnico magnets – Provide warm, dynamic response with focused mids and enhanced clarity (likely Alnico 5 based on typical MIJ vintage-style Tele sets).
  • PVC-insulated leads – Modern, reliable wire (black/white or similar) that's easy to solder and less prone to fraying than cloth in some cases—approx. 8" length on each for bridge and neck flexibility.
  • Vintage-style output – Measured DC resistance:
    • Bridge: 5.78 kΩ
    • Neck: 6.85 kΩ

These readings sit in a sweet spot: the bridge is on the lower/vintage-bright side, while the neck is warmer and fuller—great balance for chimey cleans and growly overdrive. This output combination of underwound bridge/overwound neck is actually very similar to mid '60s- mid '70s (early CBS) specs (think George Harrison, Joe Strummer, Mike Bloomfield...). The middle position sounds phenomenal.

I pulled these from a mid 2010s MIJ Fender Telecaster, but I don't remember which model it was specifically. That being said, based on the pickups, I've been able to identify these to be from a Standard or Traditional series model, and both were in production in 2014, so that's the year I put these under, however they could be younger or older. These are drop-in ready for any Tele project—whether upgrading a Squier, building a partscaster, or restoring a MIJ player. They capture that bell-like Tele twang and sparkle with reliability and value that Fender Japan is famous for.

About me: I have been a guitar technician for over 3 years now, and during that time, I have acquired many cool and rare parts over the years, and have decided to begin selling them to fund other guitar projects. Let's Get Guitarded (also on Ebay, Craigslist, and FB MP) is my store where I do that, and I'm always happy to help other guitarists get to where there want to be. I eat, sleep, sweat, and bleed electric guitar. This is my passion. Thanks for checking out my listing, and please check out the rest of my store, I have a lot of cool stuff!
