This is the MOTU MTPAV MIDI Timepiece AV USB MIDI Interface.

This has been a trusty workhorse of a MIDI interface for my smoke free studio I moved out of. I used to score video and film so timing was crucial, and because I used to sync to specific frame rates, every single rack that was used for gear with MIDI had one of these. This included my effects racks.

I have quite a few of these, and they all have to go, I may keep a couple on hand, but I no longer need them as I have downsized significantly, and mostly work in the box with frame rate accuracy (Digital Performer, S1, and Avid ProTools). I would only use this if I am using software synths and hardware synth (triggered by MIDI) and I want frame rate accuracy again.

I tested this on a MacBook Pro (Apple Silicon) with Ventura (MacOS 13) and it works as it should.  The box on this says, this does not work for Windows PCs, but it actually does. This version was released prior to Windows PCs having USB port drivers and only parallel ports worked on Windows back then.

That is what most of my studio computers ran. Drivers, if required, can be found at MOTU's site. Download the MIDI Express XT (USB) driver that supports Apple Silicon, and reboot the system. That was all I needed to do to get the MTPAV working on Apple Silicon computers under AMS (Audio MIDI Setup).

Note: The internal battery (CR2032) may need to be replaced (I used to replace it every 3 years) to maintain the memory. I usually save the configuration, replace the battery, and restore the configuration and I was back in business. Make sure to unplug the power cable before opening the MTPAV, and ground yourself before replacing the battery.

This will be shipped insured. This will come with the unit and a power cable, and the manual in the original box. You will need to furnish your own USB cable. Most of my USB 2.0 cables are too long (over 50 feet) and would not work unless you have a powered USB extender (which was connected to all of my MTPAVs). The USB cable doesn't need to be anything special, just a USB A to USB B printer cable will do. Just stay under 5m or 16.4 feet or else you will need a powered USB 2.0 extender due to USB 2.0 distance limitations.

Due to the age of this device, it will be sold as is.

Thanks for looking.
