WOW ! The new "Inspired by Gibson" guitars are fantastic !

The IBG guitars is a great homage to the vintage Gibson instruments that were responsible for most of the iconic Rock and Roll performances of all time.

These classic designs have been re-vamped to more closely resemble the inspiration...later versions of IBG and IBG Custom would feature Gibson pickups and USA harnesses as well as a few "Open Book" headstocks on the IBG Custom series.

How does this happen ????

The design of the modern 3x3 headstock shape puts stress on the weakest part of the guitar neck.  The string pull, thickness of neck and the hole drilled for the trussrod all contribute to a very weak spot on every single 3x3 guitar ever manufactured …Gibson owners, especially owners of vintage gear are all to familiar with the “typical Gibson broken headstock” –if you drop your guitar-weather it’s a $50 Jay Turser or a $10,000 custom shop Gibson-the odds are they will break at this weak point –no worries, most of the time its a very easy fix- repaired headstocks are not that uncommon-but-even a repaired headstock will break if you drop/knock down one of these guitars-its just how these beasties were designed.  

   Most import guitars have a scarf joint-either hidden under veneer or dark stain-this scarf joint is basically glued together pieces of wood-just like the repair that we have done-the glue (Tightbond) is stronger than the wood it holds together when properly applied.

You are bidding on a restored "new" Epiphone electric guitar. When we recieved this instrument it displayed cracks radiating from either side of the nut indicating a slight"under the fretboard" crack. We pried the crack open and injected Tightbond Adhesive into it and clamped the repair under 6000 ls of pressure for 48 hours. The result repair is way stronger than the original and is now the strongest part of the neck ! The headstock has a small chip out of the very top and the drop fill is a little sloppy, but black guitars are forgiving-looks great from a foot away !

..Sure you can see the repair (most times the repair can be made cosmetically better-we leave that up to the buyer-we provide a repaired/restored functioning instrument for a discount...

This particular SG was a Limited Edition for Guitar Center stores and features a Black metallic metal flake finish-really hard to photograph, but very cool and unique finish.
