More of a workhorse than a looke, The Down South Guitars "Wizard" guitar is a vintage vibe, six string T-Type guitar to overcome any challenge the stage, recording studio, or small gathering can throw at you! The Swamp Ash body has a resonant and aggressive tonality that is very forward, and the tried and true maple neck gives supreme sturdiness. The Maple fingerboard adds brightness and twang without being harsh. French polished, and hand-sanded by me, once over with sandpaper then with incredibly fine steel wool for a smooth yet not slick French Polish finish that ages slowly like a nitro finish and feels great! French Polishing being my very favorite finishes for instruments, it was a no-brainer for this design. The neck won't slip away from you, but still slippery enough to move around, you will not be able to put this thing down!!! Only American-made parts are used in this guitar design, including the hand-wound Down South Guitars pickups. That was all made by my hand. Unbranded but American tuners, White Tusq XL nut, American-made super compensated brass vintage-style saddles for maximum tone and American-made top loading bridge for maximum clarity and response complete this monster build.

The "Sledgehammer" bridge is a super-twangy, dark, huge, and cutting tone! The "Sledgehammer" neck is also my own design, a smaller version of the "Sledgehammer" bridge with big, bass end, also quite dark and twangy, perfect for a vintage neck position. You won't be disappointed in the neck, it's neither harsh nor crispy, just huge and smooth, with plenty of twang. The French Polish finish is the real star of the show. Feels great, super-thin, and resonant, like a nitro finish, but hand-applied and all natural ingredients, no harsh chemicals. This finish will age and wear over time, unlike most other finishes, and will not choke out the natural resonance and tone of the woods of the instrument, allowing for amazing tone. This guitar comes equipped with 9-42 Elixir nanoweb strings for maximum lifetime!!
