The Avalon 30 was designed as a more streamlined entry into the Matchless family while retaining the company’s emphasis on dynamic response, high-quality components, and American-built construction.
This example is a 30-watt 1x12 combo powered by four EL84 output tubes with a 5AR4 rectifier. It is the non-reverb version of the Avalon 30 and keeps the signal path and control layout intentionally simple.
The front panel provides Hi and Lo inputs along with Volume, Bass, Treble, Cut, and a Push/Pull Master Volume.
The Cut control provides the familiar Matchless-style top-end shaping, allowing the amp to move from open and articulate to smoother and more rounded without relying on a conventional presence circuit. The Push/Pull Master Volume adds useful control over overall output while keeping the basic single-channel architecture intact.
The rear panel includes an effects loop, dual speaker outputs, and switchable 4-, 8-, and 16-ohm impedance settings, along with the factory power and operating controls.
This combo is loaded with its Celestion “Matchless Special Design” Signature Series 12" speaker, rated at 30 watts and 8 ohms.
The amp was purchased new around 2018 and has never been gigged. It has seen only light home studio use and has been kept in excellent overall condition.
