The Chatbreaker is a classic 'breaker-voiced pedal tweaked for more versatility at higher drive settings & a voicing that fits the character of Revv's lineup. In our spare time in late 2022 we asked ChatGPT to design a pedal schematic, & thankfully it failed miserably. However, we could tell what it was trying to make, so we took over & finished the job. Obviously, this was a limited-time thing, so now we've built what we could with the remaining parts we had from the original run & are selling them at a discount for anyone out there who needs a quality 'breaker. When they're gone, that's it!

A Failed Experiment

Luckily for us - A.I. can't make a functional pedal! Yet, at least. ChatGPT gave us an attempt at a 'breaker-style pedal, so we cleaned it up, made some fan-favorite mods, & tweaked it to have a Revv-style voicing. The Chatbreaker is an ideal pedal for that edge of breakup sweet spot, but it has some extra gain on tap that makes it great for soloing too.

Almost Gone Forever

The Chatbreaker is very limited edition, because it was more of a fun experiment than anything else. We've been asked to make it a permanent part of our lineup because it sounds awesome, but that's not in the cards. Instead, because we've been asked so much, we built as many as we could with the remaining parts we had & when they're gone that's it!

The Technical Details

Like the design that inspired it, the Chatbreaker is a very simple pedal. It's generally advisable to push the Level a good bit above unity to get more natural breakup from your amp. Then adjust the Tone knob to play nice with your specific rig, & set Drive to taste. The Chatbreaker uses the same mini enclosure as our Tilt Boost & has top jacks to save space.

The Beauty Of The 'Breaker

The 'breaker is a beloved circuit because it's one of few overdrives that genuinely is "transparent." It won't dramatically change the character of your amp's sound, it'll just sound like "a little more." This is due to a clipping style that blends naturally with amps, & just a little bit of midrange sweetening. This also means it stacks very well with many other pedals.

It has that wonderful ‘warm-but-clear’ quality to add some old school mojo to your sound. So did the experiment work? Not really. I don’t think A.I. is ready to replace all of us just yet. I guess this is more of an Artificial Idea with Human Intelligence.”
