A specimen boasting a punchy, overwhelming sound.

Its drive and destructive power differ from both current models and Vintage models from the rosewood fingerboard era. This is addictive.

The Precision Bass, the original electric bass.

Various changes were made year after year since its development, and this particular instrument is from precisely that transitional period, nearing the latter half.

It evolved with a contoured body and split pickups, and in 1958, the “3-Tone Sunburst” appeared, adding red to the burst colors.

Judging by the body date, this instrument is from March 1958.

It has been refinished, so it's not the original color, but its texture is excellent and it radiates an aura that says “this is no ordinary instrument.”

It features a one-piece maple neck, dated September 1958. The frets and nut have been replaced, and it has been over-lacquered.

There is a small crack mark near the 4th string peg in the neck's tapered section, but it has been repaired and poses no structural issues.

The neck's grain is visibly dense and high-quality, and its current condition is excellent.

The Soft V neck profile is characteristic of this era, neither too thick nor too thin, offering a comfortable grip.

The frets are slightly low, but if you don't require a modern setup, playability is perfectly fine as-is.

The pickup on the 4th string side is original. On the 1st string side, the bobbins are original, but the wire appears rewound or partially unwound based on its texture, indicating modification.

Both pots are from week 7 of 1958, and the distinctive-looking capacitor is also original.

The jack has been replaced, and some soldering has been redone.

Regarding the bridge, a slightly later model (post-1959) is fitted. While this could be considered a transitional period, leading to various speculations... it's probably more straightforward to assume it was replaced considering that the bridges typically fitted during this period had narrower spacing between the spiral saddles, making them somewhat difficult to handle.

An interesting detail is the serial number stamped on the back of the neck plate (the side facing the body).

The front side (the visible side) shows a 1958 range, while the back side bears a so-called negative serial indicating 1957.

This is quite hard to imagine in modern times, but it's one of those quintessentially American quirks, reflecting the era and the country, that makes your heart skip a beat.

Other parts, like screws, have also been replaced.

Regarding the sound, it's absolutely, utterly flawless—one word: superb.

The aggressive sound literally resonates throughout the entire instrument, bursting forth with an unmatched persuasiveness in every single note.

The sound projects forward with depth, delivering immense satisfaction in both information density and clarity.

While the introduction of the rosewood fingerboard later marked a definitive evolution, this era's models arguably best capture the rugged charm and character of the Precision Bass.

This is an exceptionally popular and highly recommended piece among our staff.

Don't miss this opportunity.
