This is a survivor. Unlike many Ampex 601s that have been chopped up or rack-mounted, this unit is in its original "Saddle Tan" Samsonite suitcase. It is the highly desirable Mono version, famous for its use as a tube microphone preamp. The Internals (Verified): Tubes: Contains original vintage General Electric (GE) and RCA tubes. Wiring: Original point-to-point wiring (no modern mods). Chassis: Extremely clean faceplate and internal metalwork. Condition Notes: Sold as possible functional/ non-Functioning / As-Is for restoration. Fuse holder cap is seized (needs lubrication). Unit has not been powered on to protect the vintage components. Contains original capacitors which should be serviced before use. This is a prime candidate for a studio restoration or a boutique preamp build.
