Up for sale is a vintage Yamaha SA-50 semi-hollow electric guitar in classic sunburst finish, made in Japan circa 1973 (serial #23039).

This is a true early Yamaha thinline with tons of vintage vibe — double cutaway body, dual chrome-covered single coil pickups, 4-knob layout, and the original Yamaha vibrato tailpiece. These early MIJ Yamahas are incredibly well-built and have that warm, woody, slightly microphonic late-60s/early-70s tone.

Condition

Overall very good vintage condition for its age. Shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with a 50+ year old instrument — light surface scratches, small dings, and finish wear as expected. No major structural issues.

Important:

One machine head (tuner) is broken and will need to be replaced. The rest of the tuners function. The guitar is priced accordingly and would be an easy fix for someone wanting a solid vintage player.

Electronics function as they should.

Case

Includes the original Yamaha hardshell case, which is a huge bonus and increasingly hard to find with these. The case shows typical vintage wear but is fully functional and protects the guitar well.
