Needing to thin the herd. The Les Paul Custom is Gibson's flagship model, originally introduced in 1954 as the luxurious upgrade to the Standard. It features an all-white finish with multi-ply white binding on body, neck, and headstock; elegant mother-of-pearl block inlays; gold hardware; and that signature carved maple top over a mahogany body. The hot 490R/498T humbucker combo that delivers everything from creamy neck leads to biting bridge crunch. It also comes with one of my favorite cases that features the guitar blanket. There is some slight discoloration on the back of the neck from what I suspect was from a stand. Key Specifications:
- Body: Solid mahogany with carved maple top (non-weight-relieved in this era for full, resonant tone)
- Neck: Mahogany, set-neck construction
- Fingerboard: Ebony with mother-of-pearl block inlays
- Scale Length: 24¾" (standard Gibson)
- Fingerboard Radius: 12"
- Neck Profile: Typically a comfortable '50s-style D or rounded profile (feels chunky yet playable)
- Pickups: Original Gibson 490R (neck) and 498T (bridge) humbuckers — hot, clear, and articulate with great output for rock, hard rock, and metal (Alnico II magnets in the neck for warmth, Alnico V in the bridge for bite)
- Controls: 2 volume, 2 tone, 3-way toggle switch
- Hardware: Gold-plated (tuners, bridge, tailpiece, pickguard, knobs, etc.) — often Grover tuners or equivalent
- Finish: Alpine White
- Other Features: Original electronics
- Weight: Approximately 9 lbs
