One of the most well cared for, structurally sound bowl back mandolins from the beginning of the 20th century.

This is a beautiful example of the superb craftsmanship that has kept Washburn's legendary status alive for well over a century.  This 111 year old mandolin was originally constructed to last a lifetime and has far exceeded that expectation.  It is completely structurally sound, the neck is straight and neck joint is solid.  All parts and components are original.  This mandolin has just been professionally setup,  lightly cleaned and restrung with extra light strings.   A stave on the back has been re-glued and the rim has a small crack repair. These are professional repairs and will not re-open.
Please observe the pictures for an complete aesthetic description.  The mandolin  plays very nicely with low action, no buzzing or dead spots and there is plenty of room for future adjustment if needed.  The tuners function and hold pitch well.

Made from some of the most incredible tone woods, the combination of Brazilian rosewood, Honduran Mahogany and tight grained sitka spruce give this mandolin all the right ingredients for incredible tone.  A century and a quarter making music has given this instrument the time to develop a voice that has no parallel in a modern instrument.   Deep booming lows and crisp high end with a nicely balanced mid range, this mandolin is timeless, sonic gem that should be played and heard.
