These Silvertone 621 guitars are real under-the-radar beauties. This one from 1965 has been upgraded with an X-brace conversion, a neck reset, custom bone nut and saddle, nice new bone bridge pins, and a custom-made rosewood bridge that matches the original shape and size. The frets have been leveled and crowned. The original tuners are reconditioned and work great. The finish has been cleaned and buffed, and it has a fresh setup and new strings.
Please view the video at the bottom of this listing. I go over the features of the guitar and the work completed, followed by some playing demos of the acoustic and plugged in sounds.
It has a solid spruce top, solid birch back and sides, a thick poplar neck, and a Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The tone bars and finger braces are cut down from the original spruce ladder brace material, and the bridge plate is maple. The back braces have been trimmed down and lightened up.
It has a Seymour Duncan Maverick Performer soundhole pickup installed.
This is a real nice player. It shows some normal wear, but it's a real vintage beauty.
