There is no telling how few of these mandolins remain, but it goes without saying that examples with all original hardware in excellent playing condition are exceedingly rare. This mandolin is all original, the neck is very straight, action low and the mandolin plays clean across the fretboard with no buzzing or dead spots.

This mandolin is a testament to the incredible skill of the artisan who built it. It was made to be a musicians instrument for a lifetime and has far exceeded that expectation. Expertly constructed of alternating Brazilian rosewood and stunning birds eye Maple staves, a straight grained old growth Englemann spruce top and Spanish cedar neck, heavily adorned with hand scrimshawed Mother of Pearl inlay this mandolin is a high end functional work of art.

Two staves on the back have been repaired and the top had a humidity crack that has been expertly closed and re-glued. These are professional repairs, from the interior, guaranteeing they will never reopen. This mandolin is in excellent structural shape and the neck joint is completely solid. Please observe the pictures carefully for a full aesthetic description of the mandolin.

This instrument possesses incredible volume and range. Designed to be played acoustically along side horns and drums, this mandolin can cut through and be heard in a full band setting. More reminiscent of a violin then most modern mandolins, it has a depth of tone and projection that is irreplicable by any other instrument. Only the expertly constructed amalgamation of the worlds most sought after tone woods and 133 years of playing time can produce the voice this mandolin owns.

The original case is included in the auction, although the leather handle has been detached and one strap is missing a clasp.

I am happy to answer questions.
