For sale is my 1964 Gretsch 6120 DC Chet Atkins, a genuine early-’60s example with the tone and feel that have made these guitars so enduringly desirable.
I’ve owned the guitar for over ten years, originally purchasing it from a vintage guitar shop in Japan. It has been played and enjoyed rather than stored away, and it’s a particularly lively and resonant example with lots of acoustic response.
The guitar retains its original orange finish, showing natural and attractive aging. To my knowledge it remains largely original, including its Filter’Tron pickups, which deliver the classic clear, punchy Gretsch sound associated with this period.
The neck is straight, the truss rod functions correctly, and the guitar plays well. Overall feel is light and responsive, exactly what you expect from a good hollow Gretsch from this era.
Includes a modern hard case.
Selling only due to a recent purchase and the need to reduce the number of guitars.
