Extremely Rare Gretsch 4160G Round Badge COB Snare – 24k Gold Plated,

Offered here is a extreme rare 1969–1971 Gretsch 4160G Gold Plated COB Snare in the desirable Round Badge configuration.

This model was introduced during Gretsch’s transition period from the round badge to the stop sign badge era and was produced only for a short time. The 4160G features a chrome-over-brass shell with factory-applied 24k gold plating and the Lightning strainer.

The original 24k gold plating on these drums is known to be extremely thin and prone to wear. This example shows the typical plating loss seen on most surviving drums of this model. The finish is original and has not been re-plated.

There is a very slight indentation on the butt-plate side of the shell (visible in the photos). This is purely cosmetic and can be easily corrected by a professional brass instrument repair technician if desired. The shell is round with no cracks. All hardware appears original, including the Lightning strainer and die-cast hoops. The drum is fully functional and plays great.

These gold plated Gretsch snares are considerably rarer than standard COB models and are becoming increasingly hard to find, especially in round badge configuration.
