Super rare Gibson Explorer III from 1984 in scarce white finish. It's been years since I saw this model/finish for sale.

This model was made for ONE year only in 1984-85, Gibson did not make this model before or after. Ebony fretboard.

Unique guitar with 3 P90 pickups.

This version is with stop bar, while a lot of Explorers from this model come with Khaler tremolo.

Condition:

- Finish developed some nice checking patterns.

- It looks like headstock was repaired long time ago. I can see a line (seam) on the front and there's overspray on the back of headstock. Discounted for headstock repair, I saw these offered at $6K or more without repair.

- Some wear and chipping to the finish.

Comes with original Gibson hardshell case. Wear on the case.

Frets have some wear, some oxidation on the frets.

Serial number indicates around 1984 production. Serial number is partially masked in the photos in this listing for privacy reasons. Contact me if you would like to see unobstructed serial number.

Controls:

- See last pic for wiring diagram.

- One switch controls the bridge and neck pickups just like a standard Les Paul or SG - the three positions being neck only / neck + bridge / bridge only.

- The second switch controls the middle pickup, but is a little strange - the three positions being middle pickup off / middle combined with neck and/or bridge (depending on how the other toggle is set) / middle ONLY.

- This setup is pretty genius, it allows you to get any combination of the three pickups, even all three together.
