West Pest: accessible and creative West Coast synthesis

West Pest is a West Coast-style semi-modular analog synthesizer designed by Cre8audio in collaboration with Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers. Designed to deliver complex and dynamic sounds, it features an immediate workflow and a compact yet powerful aesthetic. This used version is ideal for musicians seeking a deep, modular sound experience at an affordable price.

Unique analog oscillator and creative wave folding

The oscillator developed by Pittsburgh Modular is not based on vintage circuitry, but the result of years of modern research. It offers sine, triangle and sawtooth waveforms that can be combined with each other and modulated via FM. This is enhanced by an advanced wavefolder that adds harmonics, creating rich, unprecedented timbres.

External inputs and sound manipulation

All generated or external signals can be processed via the built-in wavefolder. This opens up unique creative possibilities, allowing even waveforms not usually compatible with folding to be "folded."

Dynamics Controller: envelope, VCA and filter in one

A central element of the West Coast approach, the Dynamics Controller replaces classical architectures with a circuit that combines percussive attack, musical decay, and progressive filtering. The result is a unique and organic sonic response.

LFO and modulation control

West Pest integrates a dual-range analog LFO (41 seconds to 500 Hz), as well as a Multi-Mod Tool with random generator, extra envelope and CV controls to explore deep modulation.

Semi-modular patch and 8-module architecture

Although it works without patching, the real potential is unlocked by connecting its 18 compatible eurorack patch points. Inside it are 8 "modules": oscillator, wavefolder, dynamics controller, LFO, sequencer, keyboard, MIDI-to-CV, Multi-Mod. It can be integrated into eurorack systems by removing the casing (40HP).

Sequencer, arpeggiator and performance functions

West Pest offers a 32-step sequencer with memory for 13 presets, generative mode and transposition capability via MIDI or built-in keyboard. It also includes an arpeggiator that can be synchronized via internal or external clock.
