Soldano 1992 Super Lead Overdrive serial #92947 Deyoung transformers

Soldano SLO 100 made in 1992 serial #92947.

This Fine Amplifier is from my Personal Collection of Musical Gear that I have acquired over the years.

The Sound of God.

This amplifier has a plate voltage of 479 Volts.

Original DMI  Deyoung Manufactoring Inc. Choke, Power, & Output transformers - incredible!

2oz copper traces in the PCB board- just as good as Point to Point (designed to be perfectly consistent).

Modified in April of 1995 by Bruce Egnater (2 mods).

1). The effects loop mod (Added return level with unity gain marked) 1 knob added along with an additional 12AX7 preamp tube to properly drive a high powered rack setup in Series. 

The factory loop was lacking (at that time). This probably is the famous Pete Cornish mod. 

2.) A Density Control. 

Now called “Depth” control.

It increases the bottom end. From what I was told (The density control is an inductor placed in the power amp section along with a potentiometer (maybe a little other “mojo”) to add incredible low end bass response and fatness. A standard feature on today’s SLO’s. 

No DEYOUNG transformers anymore, and that is the sound (on a Large Part).

Original Foot-switch and padded Soldano head cover (worn). No foot switch cable included.

Use the foot switch, if not the channels bleed together without it attached- BUT come ALIVE when separated!

Sovtec 5881 flat base power tubes (very fresh).

Chinese 12AX7 equipped. That’s what it was designed around (pretty sure).

I have never played out with this head. 

Stored at a comfortable temperature for 28 years!   Never in smoke.

A favorite SLO album that should be referenced here (my humble opinion),

Lynch Mob “Wicked Sensation”, the rhythms were cut with a Gray SLO 100.
I bought this head, because I played that amp. Gary Moore’s SLO was also gray.

Owned since 1998. One previous owner.

The SLO has a Fast Attack (because of the increased filtering in the power section) and more harmonics (less filtering in the preamp section).

Healthy, Dependable, and Clean as F ! ! ! 

Never Recapped, that’s something you might want to have done.

One little ding on the front lip, and the previous owner seemed to reposition the feet on the bottom.
