The 1961 Gretsch 6131 Jet Firebird is a striking example of early-’60s American craftsmanship, combining bold aesthetics with the unmistakable chime and punch that define vintage Gretsch tone. Finished in vibrant Red, this Jet Firebird delivers classic single-cut style with a look and voice that stand apart from the crowd.

Built with a maple top over a mahogany body, this Jet offers a lively, articulate response with excellent sustain and warmth. The mahogany neck paired with an ebony fingerboard provides a smooth, fast playing surface, while the 12" radius, 24.75" scale length, and 1.7" nut width create a comfortable, balanced feel suited for both chordal work and expressive lead playing.

Equipped with two Filter’Tron pickups, this 6131 delivers the clear, punchy tone Gretsch is famous for—tight low end, sparkling highs, and a focused midrange that cuts beautifully through a mix. The versatile control layout includes a master volume, individual pickup volumes, a 3-way pickup selector, and a 3-way tone switch, offering a wide palette of tones from jangly cleans to gritty, driven textures. The original Gretsch bridge and Waverly tuners maintain vintage-correct functionality and styling.

This guitar has been setup by our in-house luthier and is ready for the stage/studio! The upper control plate has been replaced, the binding has been professionally secured, and the guitar has been refretted with medium jumbo frets at some point in its life, enhancing playability while preserving its vintage character. Please take note of the buckle rash and some scratches. The top also has the old sticker spot. Please review all photos for complete cosmetic details and feel free to reach out with any questions.
