Hard to find a Les Paul Classic from the early years this condition. Outside of the truss rod cover and volume/tone knobs. it’s 100% original. It has a recent PLEK setup for the smooth and fast action as well as adding many years to the frets. Minor dings, please see pics.

Body: Mahogany back with carved Maple top.

Neck: Slim 1960s profile mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard.

Pickups: Open-coil ceramic 496R (neck) and 500T (bridge) humbuckers.

Hardware: ABR-1 Bridge, Gibson Deluxe "Green Key" tuners.

Story goes that Gibson was making these early models a little too good, often cited for having superior construction, and a "prehistoric" reissue style with a deeper dish top carve. Good enough that dealers started replacing the “classic” truss rod cover and 1960 pick guard and labeling them custom shop. 

So in 1994 Gibson changed the headstock to say “classic” instead of “model“ and changed the fretboard inlays to a greenish tint instead of white.

This led to models built in the 1990-93 era becoming highly sought after and collectible.

Throw in a set of your favorite PAF humbuckers and you got a plain top reissue at half the price.
