This drum was obtained in poor condition. Very dirty. Some spills on the top damaged the finish. Some parts were missing. Drum was completely dismantled, cleaned, and polished. Missing parts were replaced with genuine Sonor Phonic parts (mostly from Stuttgart). The chrome cleaned up very nicely. The shell was thoroughly cleaned. It was quite dry with some scratching. No attempt was made to re-finish. Tong oil was applied over the entire shell. The finish came back quite nicely. The scratches showed up dark under the tong oil. See 'before' picture.
Heads were replaced. The would have originally been equipped with metal chrome hoops. The only one that came was in poor condition. Unable to find replacements. I replaced with maple hoops from Gibraltar.
The shell is 9 ply beech, bearing edges are sharp and clean.
