Vintage 1950 Rickenbacker Model B Bakelite Lap Steel Guitar w/ Hardshell Case!

Up for sale is this vintage 1950 Rickenbacker Model B bakelite lap steel guitar. When it comes to "iconic" in the world of vintage stringed instruments, the "panda" has to be in the top five and, whenever one lands here at the shop, it's always an exciting time.

This instrument is all original with the exception of a few missing fretboard markers (this is common on these). The original pots date to 1950 and everything is original inside, including the cap. The original metal hardware shows wear and pitting and it's clear that this instrument was enjoying and lovingly used over the years. The original white metal plates show typical wear, scratches, and pitting and, overall, the instrument looks great.

Our tech just went over this one by installing a fresh set of strings, spraying out the electronics, and wiping it down. He did note that the volume control does not completely cut the volume when turned all the way down, but that it functioned fine otherwise along with the tone control. Since it's original inside, he opted to leave it be.

A period-correct and quite possibly original hardshell case is included. The case is in fair condition but could use a little TLC. The latches and hinges are all present and work as they should, but there is some seam separation along the edges (pictured). The instrument will be well-packed inside and out to ensure safe shipping.

When it comes to lap steels, these have stood the test of time and never gone out of style. There's a reason for that, so don't miss out...
