Used Martin Thomas Humphrey C-TSH w/case

A beautiful 1999 C.F. Martin-Thomas Humphrey guitar is for sale. In the 1990’s the innovative hand-crafted “Millennial” guitars of New York luthier Thomas Humphrey (1948-2008) were played in concert by leading performers and were very desirable with wait times up to 5 years.  These instruments are valued highly in the resale market, but with few available at any time.  The original “Millennial” instruments were usually spruce and rosewood, and the lattice bracing, elevated fingerboard, and slightly arched top made for great clarity and projection and easy access to the upper frets.

In 1997 Humphrey collaborated with C.F. Martin & Co to broaden availability.  Martin would use its full-scale production line to build more-accessible versions of the Humphrey “Millennial” design.  About 264 of these guitars were produced, touted by experts as “in our opinion this is the finest modern style classical guitar model ever offered by Martin.”

This Martin-Humphrey C-TSH features an Engelman spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, ebony fret board, rosewood bridge, and gold tuning machines.  The spruce sound board is tightly grained with lovely quilting, and the rosewood back and sides feature subtle multicolored patterning.  The rosette, center stripe, and purfing are detailed but restrained.  The workmanship is excellent as one would expect from the Martin custom shop.  The elevated finger board, arched top, lattice bracing, and overall contours replicate the “Millennial” design.  The scale length is 650mm, the nut width 52mm.This instrument includes a L.R. Baggs under saddle “Beam” pick-up connected to ¼ -inch pin socket in the strap button.The original Martin case is provided. It is in excellent condition with few minor surface scuffs.  The tone is full and well balanced, with great projection.  It is a wonderful instrument.
