Tempo semi-hollow Violin shaped guitar - 1960s - Red Gloss

This Tempo guitar is another example of Triage Guitar Shop of West Palm Beach Florida saving a vintage classic guitar from extinction.

The semi-hollow beauty started its return journey as an empty body and matching Tempo neck.

The list below details the actions taken to return this classic to its former glory and playability:

Cleaned body and installed scrolled trapeze tailpiece and strap buttons

Designed and fabricated pickup mounting pads to accommodate two Rickenbacker style Toaster Slot humbucker pickups in place of difficult to find/expensive vintage single coils.

Designed and fabricated model consistent pickguard and mounted 3-way selector switch.

Installed and wired full size volume and tone pots and two parallel .022 uf tone capacitors onto existing original control panel.

Cleaned and fret leveled neck to eliminate dead notes and any fret buzz. (Good with normal playing, can't guarantee for more aggressive styles).

Joined neck and body using vintage neckplate and chrome mounting screws.

Mounted and finished wiring humbucker pickups to rest of electronics with shielded wire.

Grounded trapeze tailpiece.

Cleaned and oiled existing vintage open gear tuning machines.

Used existing mounting posts to mount height adjustable and intonatable bridge.

Installed new set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky (.009-.042) strings.

Tested electronics

Checked neck relief and string height at nut

Tuned to pitch and set intonation and set string action to low

Played every note repeatedly to ensure no dead notes or fret buzz under normal playing.
